ISBNs, Book Covers, and Typesetting...Oh My!

2020 hasn't been the easiest of years. I count myself lucky that I have a steady job as a nurse. Working on Marty the Mailbox Monster has helped me get through the stress of the pandemic and working through it. Writing and book stuff is also an easy social distancing activity. I hope that others have also been able to benefit from the pandemic and its "gift" of solitude.
The process hasn't been easy, especially the business side of book publishing, like how much to charge for the book and the cost for printing. Getting the ISBNs and barcodes along with those have been a bit easier, just time consuming to fill out the forms. Same with the copyright form.
I will say, though, the process has been so much fun! I enjoy working with my illustrator, Julie. She is also doing the typesetting, which I cannot wait to see. Her illustrations are amazing. If you head over to the "Works in Progress" tab on the website you will see the cover for Marty the Mailbox Monster that she created.
Marty started off as just a thought, but over the past twelve months has quickly become a reality! If you work hard enough, you can make any dream come true. I have been getting butterflies thinking about how close I am to publishing....perhaps I will post a date on here first before anywhere else. So! Stay tuned!
